Information for parents in case of emergencyFire Drills
Fire drills are conducted twice a month. Fire drills rosters are posed in each classroom. The roster lists the day of the drill, time and weather conditions. All Staff members know the procedure for evacuating children out of the building. Each fire drill is timed to make sure we are out in a Quick but Safe condition.
EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
In the event of an emergency and the Center must close:
- Parents will be contacted by the Director or Staff member.
- Children will remain at the center or designated site until parents are able to pick them up. You will be notified if we have to move to a designated site. Our sites are Turkey Thicket Recreation Center and Elsie Whitlow Stokes.
- Staff still remain on duty until all children are picked up by the parent or designated emergency contact person.
- When calling parents, we will use the Emergency Contact Roster only.
- Children will only be allowed to leave with the parent or the emergency contact person.
- Emergency contact person must show ID before they are allowed to leave with the children.
- Parents or designated person must sign the children out.
Reporting of Unusual Incidents
All incidents deemed inappropriate such as criminal, theft, death, injury, physical, sexual and verbal abuse, SHALL BE REPORTED to the Director, The Office of State Superintendent of Education,, The Department of Human Services and the Metropolitan Police Department. No incident of accident will be left unchecked.
